Concord Yacht Club
On Fort Loudon Lake

"Where Knoxville Sails"

Activities
-
- Social - Concord Yacht Club hosts a number of
social activities for members and their guests.
These include social get-togethers
(Shrimp Peel, Potlucks, Fourth of July Fireworks,
Annual Banquet) , club regattas
(Memorial Day, Fourth of July,Labor Day, Club
Championship), and work parties (usually
in Spring).
- Racing - The mission of the Concord Yacht
Club racing program is to provide a high quality,
fair racing program for Concord Yacht Club
members. The racing program provides a
competitive format that both encourages those
members who are non-racers to race and encourages
current racers to remain active in racing.
Weather permitting, club races are held Sunday
afternoons virtually year-round.
- Fleets - The club is host to a number of
fleets, ranging from one-design classes such as
Thistle and Windmill, to the Auxillary fleet
which encompasses a wide variety of larger boats.
- Instruction - Kid's Sailcamp is a week of sailing
instruction, water safety, and swimming provided
by Club members for members' children and other
sponsored children ages 8-15. All children must
pass a swimming test. CYC members lend their
boats for use and instruction during the week.
Parents of children in Sailcamp assist with all
activities. Advanced Junior members serve as
counselors. (Here are a couple of pictures of the
sailcamp fun: Sailcamp1.jpg,
Sailcamp2.jpg). The club also
conducts an adult sailcamp.
- Newsletter - The official club newsletter, called
the Luff Letter, is published monthly to
keep members updated on upcoming events, club
happenings, and racing results.
